Project Find / Child Find
Project Find is devoted to helping individuals, parents, and people who work with families (known as primary referral sources), to connect with the special educational services that may be needed. In Michigan, eligible children, youth, and young adults may receive special educational services from birth through 25 years of age. Project Find Michigan is part of the child find component of the IDEA.
Child Find is the component of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) that requires all states to locate, identify, and evaluate as early as possible all infants, toddlers, children and youth residing in the state who may be eligible for early intervention and/or special education. Child Find encourages referral of children and youth who may be eligible Early On for Special Education.
The Part C program recognizes that families play a crucial role in optimizing their child’s development. The child’s developmental needs and the family’s concerns are noted in an Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP).
