Holly Area Schools earns straight ‘As’ for fiscal responsibility, accountability
Second consecutive ‘A+’ bond rating demonstrates district’s continued commitment to success of all Bronchos
HOLLY, Mich. — Holly Area Schools has earned an “A+” bond rating for the second consecutive year from S&P Global Ratings following an evaluation of the district’s finances. The district’s strong bond rating demonstrates its continued commitment to fiscal responsibility and accountability and investment in the success of all Bronchos.
The district maintained a long-term rating of “AA” and an underlying rating of “A+” with a stable outlook in 2024 based on its proactive budget practices and consistent student enrollment, the S&P Global Ratings analysis states.
“At Holly Area Schools, we realize tax dollars are precious, and we take fiscal responsibility and accountability seriously,” said Superintendent Scott Roper. “I would like to thank our outstanding school board and administrative team for putting in the extra hours to maintain our stellar track record of strong financial stewardship.”
The district’s top bond rating is a result of sound financial decisions made within the district supported by the district’s assistant superintendent of business, Steve Lenar, and director of business and finance, Linda Earl. S&P Global Ratings cited conservative budgeting, management of staff vacancies and enrollment growth in its analysis.
The district completed a $27 million construction bond sale Jan. 8 as part of its 2022 $97 million voter-approved bond. Proceeds from the bond sale will be used to fund completion of the new Holly Middle School, future auditorium upgrades, safety upgrades, and other remaining approved bond projects.
“At Holly Area Schools, we are proud to partner with our Broncho community in preparing our students for success and the jobs of today and tomorrow,” Roper said. “The generosity and support of our community make these critical investments that help our students learn, grow and thrive possible.”
