Holly Area Schools honors board during School Board Recognition Month
District Board of Education committed to helping prepare all Bronchos for success, careers of today and tomorrow
HOLLY, Mich. — Holly Area Schools recognized the Holly Area Schools Board of Education during School Board Recognition Month in January. The district honored the board for its continued commitment to preparing all Bronchos for success, whether that means college, technical training or jobs right after graduation.
“Our Holly school board members go above and beyond to help ensure all Bronchos have access to a world-class education that prepares them for the careers of today and tomorrow,” said Scott Roper, Holly Area Schools superintendent. “Our board members sacrifice hours of their time, including nights and weekends, to serving our students and schools.”
The district’s board consists of President Leigh Jackson, Vice President Jennifer Young, Treasurer Peter Deahl, Secretary Lisa Oaks and trustees Linda Blair, Sean Creger and Dr. Liz Cunningham.
The Holly district’s board has prioritized long-term master planning over the past decade. These efforts have enhanced safety and security measures, invested in the district’s classrooms, and provided an increased focus on college and career preparation. The board has also supported expansion of work-based learning opportunities, the new, state-of-the-art Construction Trades Center, and the new Holly Middle School scheduled to open in fall 2025.
Working with local families, staff and business leaders, the district’s school board has also played a pivotal role in adopting Holly Area Schools 2030 (HAS 2030) — the district’s comprehensive strategic plan that provides a roadmap for continued Broncho student success for the next several years.
“Our school board plays a critical role in promoting #BronchoPride in our community through their leadership, direction and support that help our students learn, grow and thrive,” Roper said. “On behalf of Holly Area Schools, I’d like to offer our sincere thanks to our board for their selfless contributions, passion for education, and investment in our students. Their impact is felt in every classroom, every family, and every corner of our community.”
